Who are your favorite MARVEL comic book characters?

marvel comic books
Jim asked:

Tell me who your favorite Marvel comic characters are, heroes or villains, it doesn't matter. Don't just post your favorite one, heck I wouldn't even stop at 5. I don't care if you list ten or more, but if it's more than 20 I may not feel like reading all of them. You have been forewarned!
Best list of characters gets Best Answer and a thumbs up from me.

What are your favorite comic books?

comic books
ZZ asked:

I want to read comic books that aren't in a series. For example, if one of your favorite is Spiderman #46, unless it's amazing at the fullest if I haven't read the previous, don't say it. So, with that rule, what are youre favorite comic books you would recommend?

PS: Anyone getting Joker? I can't wait for it!!

Thanks.

I’m a newfound Marvel comic book geek, how do I get caught up with the storylines?

marvel comic books
Mike asked:

I've just become completely obsessed with the Marvel universe, but with so much backstory, I'm finding it difficult to get caught up with all of it.

Wikipedia has helped, but there's gotta' be a better way

What about the Ultimate Marvel comics?
Also, are the Ultimate Marvel comics available in graphic novel form?
Very good answers so far, and some have raised a few other questions of mine.

It's a well-known fact that the Marvel Universe gets pretty convoluted in storylines, how do you deal with that and comprehend it all?

and also, I had originally considered simply reading only a few of the storylines (X-Men and Spider-Man seemed the best to me) but then a friend brought it to my attention that the characters storylines intersect often, and are reallly at their best during these times, making it seem like it was all or nothing. Help in that area would be nice.
