I have been wanting to get into comic books for a while now, but I have no idea where to start. I'm insterested in: The Avengers, Iron Man, Fantastic Four. I've found the 'Essentials' for each on Amazon. I would also like to read about the Civil War, but I want the history first. Any ideas where I should start? Then go? After that?

I've heard the Essentials are in black and white, are they? I don't think I would mind too much since I'm more insteresting in the story. What would you recommend for a new-be??
